Laundry Time

Colton LOVES to play in the clean laundry. Yesterday, he got my sports bra stuck on his arms, and around his back. It was too funny! I am sure he will have an outstanding love for me when he sees these pictures when he is 16..... on a lighter note, he turns ONE on FRIDAY! Time is flying and my baby is growing up! Anyhow, we are having a birthday party for him at Porter Park (see the invite on the top of the blog) it is going to be very relaxed with food and fun. All are welcome, hope to see you there!

Memorial Day

I spent a large portion of Memorial day thinking about the men and women who have served and those who currently serve our country. I watched a few Memorial day specials on T.V. and then wanted to go visit graves of those men and women who made the ultimate sacrafice. With Colton needing naps and plenty of bad timing among other things, I didn't get to make it out of the house. However, the years to come will be spent honoring those who gave all. We spent memorial day afternoon with our neighbors that live below us. They are a young couple with a 2 year old boy so our situations are quite similar. We went to the Porter Park which is the best park EVER! It has a great layout: basketball court, tennis court, shaded area with trees, a big open field for soccer/football, a jungle gym/swing/slides, a carousel, and a splash park. Seriously, best park ever! We spent a few hours at the park having lunch and playing at the water area. Colton loved the water until he got a face full of water..... after that he didn't have much to do with it. It was a great day spent with great friends. Hope you all had a wonderful memorial day.

No, Colton's face is not sun burnt.... I accidently got sunscreen in his eye and it made his whole face red.

Not Awesome.

The apartment we live in is spacious yet, on the older side. Our dishwasher is totally broken. It is not reparable and the owners have to buy a whole new one. I am just waiting for the washer to quit, it must be from the seventies. Anyhow, this afternoon, OUT OF NOWHERE, the toilet started over flowing. Normally this would be a fixable problem however, we keep the bathroom door shut so Colton doesn't go in and throw phones in the toilet, so it was probably flowing at least ten minutes before we noticed. I was washing dishes and Parker was finishing homework so he wouldn't have to worry about doing any over the weekend. Our neighbor from down stairs came up and asked us what was going on, at the same moment Parker walked down the hall and noticed the flood. There was at least two inches of standing water in the bathroom and the carpet down the hall as well as into Colton's room was completely saturated. Not awesome. We grabbed every towel we had and started soaking up as much water as we could. Parker got the water stopped but the damage had been done. Even after ringing out towel after towel we still were not able to get all the water out of the carpets. And our poor neighbors below.... it ruined almost all of their kids books, got toilet water ALL OVER their back seat (they keep the back seat of their van in the closet), and it ruined several of his electronic airplanes. Our landlords are awesome and are taking full responsibility. He said they have an umbrella policy on the house as well as extra insurance. They mentioned this happened once before while they were living here. I am just glad that we were home. I can't even imagine the extent of the damage if that toilet ran for any longer.

Here are all the towels.... soaked in toilet water. I hope you can sense how ecstatic I am to get all these towels through the laundry.

This is a sideways shot of the hallway. I took this a good hour after the flood and you can still see an outline of the saturated carpet..... nothing like toilet water soaked carpet to make for a fun weekend.

Awesome.

Colton has been walking for a couple weeks now! We live in the top floor of a duplex and below us is a 2 year old boy and I think Colton picked up walking from him. I can't believe he is walking, it is blowing my mind. Colton isn't a baby anymore..... he turns one in just two weeks!

Parker and his 26th!

Parker turned 26 yesterday! He woke up to his favorite breakfast and a single gift, the new iPod touch. We had big plans to go out to dinner but didn't make it down to Idaho Falls. We will make up for that tomorrow night. We finished off the night with some mud pie, made with Parkers favorite mint ice cream. Happy birthday babe, much love to you!!!

The Cat Toy

We got a new scratch post/toy for the cats and Colton think it's just for him! He is constantly crawling through the tunnel and playing with the dangling toys. Crazy kid.

New Hair for a New Town...

I have ALWAYS wanted to color my hair a deep auburn and I finally did! I went to the Paul Mitchell school so it was rather inexpensive and I got a great girl who basically had her instructor do the cut and pick the color. It turned out just as I pictured! The photos don't really do it justice, I feel like it looks a little on the purple side, but rest assured, it is auburn! What do you think? Can I pull this off?

The hair color makes my eyes look a little on the yellow side!
